God Bless Ukraine!

By Chris Temple – July 18, 2009

The history of Ukraine is one replete with one struggle after another.  Keeping its “branch” of the Church vibrant and independent from the sometimes-tyrannical Church in Russia.  Serving as a battleground and point of struggle between “west” and “east,” a struggle which continues to the present day.  Seeking to protect its own identity and find its way in the modern world.

Whatever negative things one might say about Ukraine or its muddled leadership, one thing appears clear once again: that this country has at least SOME Christian standards of decency.

It was reported this week that Ukraine’s culture ministry had banned all showings of the new film “Bruno” on Ukrainian soil.  Most of you have no doubt heard of this latest filth featuring “comedian” Sacha Baron Cohen, who once more has done his kinfolk proud with—this time—his debauched performance as a homosexual Austrian fashion reporter.

One would think that a country more vocal in its alleged status as a “Christian nation” than most any other would have been leading the charge to ban such garbage from our society and culture.  But such a person would be very wrong, for that allegedly Christian nation – the United States of America – is, TO THE CONTRARY, the “launching pad” these days for pretty much everything contrary to the Cross of Christ and His Kingdom.

So I say, God Bless Ukraine.

(BTW - This subject will be one of many I'll cover in an upcoming essay entitled  "To Tell the Truth:  Will the REAL Christian Nation Please Stand Up?")
